Alexandra (AAOA):

What are some tips you can share with other for finding good tenants?

Stephanie Bishoff:

Definitely do background checks. I’ve used your system for years now and I like how it gives you more than just what you might be able to find on your own. That background check tool is great. I highly recommend that. I always make it a point to meet the applicant. I don’t let anybody do it for me. That way, it’s just on my shoulders. At the end of the day, you have to protect your investment. So, I try not to always be the nice guy. It’s a tough business.

Alexandra (AAOA):

So where do you see yourself going from here? Are you trying to expand to get more properties or just maintain what you have?

Stephanie Bishoff:

I’m comfortable maintaining what we have right now. It can be really labor intensive when you have a few openings, running and doing all the showings and asking tenants where’s your rent?

Alexandra (AAOA):

Yes, I think that’s fair. Managing properties is no easy task at all. And I don’t always think more is better, because our time and our sanity are important as well. So, yes, if you found a good balance, it’s a good idea to keep it!
