ANEW Life International is a non-profit organization established to assist the survivors and victims of human trafficking. Led by their founder/president Kym Kurey, ANEW works with these victims to help them find better jobs and safer housing by helping to clear up their expunged court records. Working alongside vetted attorneys across the country, victims are assisted, free of charge, in expunging court records pertaining to any crime committed as a result of trafficking. This service allows individuals to keep their records in check, creating more available housing opportunities for them. In addition, ANEW works closely with landlords to create safe places for these survivors to live and thrive in their new lives. Because human trafficking is a largely hidden crime and often goes unreported, precise statistics in the United States are difficult to determine. Even so, the scope of the problem is devastating. Estimates suggest that each year, approximately 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States, and an estimated 400,000 Americans are trafficked domestically, with women and children accounting for roughly 80% of the victims.
