CONNECT DIFFERENT GROUPS

USE A KEY ICEBREAKER

USE CREATIVE GESTURES

For example, when did you buy the car, the home, or what rental storage locker does each key open? This exercise helps break the ice and sparks engaging conversations, revealing personal experiences and connections to our shared investment journey. 1. Get into groups of four 2. Place your keys on the table in front of you 3. Go around the table and tell the “story” of each key At our in-person Equity Builders Club networking events, we do this icebreaker:

Net work ing takes WORK! To stand out, be creative and authentic. Ditch cookie-cutter approaches—ask unique questions to understand and support others. Create niche groups if they don’t exist, fostering connections in new ways. Authenticity and trust are key; people connect with the REAL you. Avoid robotic interactions; instead, share relatable stories and personal tidbits to build rapport. Recognize your value— you’re not just your title, you’re a unique individual. Finally, get creative with gestures; small actions like personalized thank you cards leave lasting impressions. These strategies will elevate your networking game in the multifamily industry.

One of our most successful networking events is working with our local college real estate clubs and putting them in a room with businesspeople from the local real estate industry. Established businesspeople love to help eager college students learn the latest technologies from them, while the students love to volunteer and intern at the local businesses. It’s a beautiful mesh of two groups that go into the event truly trying to help the other group... and the results are awesome!

SMALL ACTIONS LEAVE LASTING IMPRESSIONS.
