PLAY “THE MATCHING GAME”

HOST A MEETUP

Meet as many people as possible and give everyone your business card. With today’s technology, you can share your digital business card using your cell phone. Events might include local real estate investor groups and meetups, or more formal lunch groups. Many investors hook up and share resources at a weekly breakfast meeting. If you don’t have one locally, start your own and invite investors, lenders, etc. The meeting must not exceed 90 minutes, preferably 60 minutes. If you’re getting started, offer some kind of free door prize.

A very easy addition to any networking event is “The Matching Game.” Everyone “loves” the required “Hello, my name is...” badges you’re given at every event. To add some spice, when checking in, the host adds a random sticker to your badge. Somewhere in the crowd, another attendee has the same sticker. As an ice breaker, have all attendees find their match. Once the room is paired up, the goal is to find out something interesting about your partner. Randomly select some groups to share their new findings. Often, the best connections are made with random topics not typically expected at a work function.

Social media is everywhere today, flooded with AI content. I believe in the power of old-fashioned ways. When I talk to people face to face, I share my real estate journey and spark curiosity. I value real connections, showing interest in others, and asking thoughtful questions. Transparency in sharing my expertise helps me build trust. By following up promptly and offering assistance, I aim to forge lasting relationships boosted by sending monthly tips and reminders. Prioritizing sincerity, curiosity, and generosity nurtures a supportive network, fostering professional and personal growth.

OFTEN, THE BEST CONNECTIONS ARE MADE WITH RANDOM TOPICS.

SHARE RESOURCES AT A WEEKLY BREAKFAST MEETING.

PRIORITIZING SINCERITY, CURIOSITY, AND GENEROSITY.
